I’d love to speak at your event
I love teaching and preaching, it is one of the things I feel God has called me to do. If your event is in driving distance of where I live in Tennessee, I’ll come speak at your church for free. Simply email me at joshp@ridgedalebaptist.org with a date, topic, and other general information.
My Story
I was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. During high school I had a pretty profound spiritual moment where after months of doubt and confusion, the Lord helped me understand I couldn’t make Him love me by my good works. But because of Jesus, He had chosen to love me and help me change.
Ever since then, I have been trying to use my life to help others see God’s love for them. Sensing the Lord was calling me into ministry, but unsure of what that path would look like, I went to Lee University and got my undergrad in Information Systems. I joined a tech-startup and worked in the business world for a while until I went to Seminary where I achieved my Masters of Divinity.
After seminary I went to work at a local hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic as a trauma chaplain.
I currently work as Pastor of Young Adults and oversee the internship program at Ridgedale Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tn.

10 quotes from a sermon on how difficult relationships grow our faith.
God grows us by exposing us to all these things, so as to overwhelm us with a sense of our own inadequacy, and to drive us to cling to him more closely.

Perhaps it is in the meeting place of our dual emotions where a sacred place with God is formed. A place of honesty and intimacy.
I sometimes pray ‘Lord give me no more and no less self-knowledge than I can at this moment make a good use of.’
Just because we have a sinful inclination does not mean we must give in to sinful action.
Paul is not saying that your relationships will flourish when the hard to love person learns the fruits of the spirit. He says it will flourish when you cultivate the fruits of the spirit despite what other people do.
Helplessness is a bit like quick sand. The more you try, the deeper you sink. Helplessness is also like baptism. You’ve got to surrender to it to come out the other side.
